They are the top of everyone’s lists when it comes to booking a luxury, beach get away. Both are in the Indian Ocean, both have luxury accommodations and both have picturesque white beaches. So, which one should you visit first?
The Maldives are a group of hundreds of little islands with bustling reefs and marine life. The islands are very small, most islands have just 1 resort each giving you that bit of extra exclusivity.
Best known for their water villas and bungalows, the islands cater for everyone, from tiny rustic villas to large, contemporary bungalows with uninterrupted views out to sea. However, we wouldn’t recommend them for small children. Other than snorkelling and diving there really isn’t much else to do, which suits many people looking for a break, but maybe not the kids.
Food varies from resort to resort so make sure you check what your chosen hotel offers. A popular way to dine is on a private dining experience with candle light and the soft waves.
All in all, the Maldives are perfect for sitting back, taking a breath and looking out to sea, but make sure you take someone you are happy to spend time doing nothing with!
The Seychelles too are a group of lots of islands, however it is the main and larger island of Mahe that people tend to visit. The Seychelles have a much more varied landscape to the flat islands of the Maldives with more to explore, with hiking and visiting nature reserves popular activities.
Accommodation varies from hillside chalets to water villas on stilts. Many visitors who visit the Seychelles choose to island hop between 2 or 3 islands during their visit to see as much as they can.
The Seychelles is home to many different cuisines due to past colonies. It is advised to get out of the hotel and try some of the tasty local food.
If you are looking for some of the best beaches in the world and a chance to explore them and the surrounding landscapes, then the Seychelles might just be for you.
